QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

How should I store my sourdough bread?

Once baked, our sourdough loaves are shelf stable for up to one week at room temperature, however natural bread does start to stale after 3-5 days. The loaves may also be refrigerated for an additional week or frozen for up to 3 months.

How long does it take to make a loaf of sourdough?

Each loaf of bread takes approximately 2.5-3 days to complete.

What makes your sourdough different from store bought sourdough?

Most store-bought "sourdough" is not true sourdough. It is made using commercial yeast and added flavors to mimic the sour taste. Our sourdough is made with natural wild yeast from our homemade sourdough starter. The sour flavor comes from the acids in our starter which get stronger during our longer fermentation process.

Is sourdough bread always sour?

No. Sourdough is not actually a "flavor", it is a method of leavening to rise dough. The original, natural method of making bread! The lactic and acidic acids are what makes the bread sour, and the sour profile of the bread is entirely up the baker -which is what makes each sourdough bakery unique!
